I have a big family and one which loves to chat. 4 siblings means self-isolation was never going to be quiet and in one way it’s quite nice. Friends are complaining about being bored and lonely but all I want is some peace and quiet.

Getting uni work done is a bustling household is hard. If you’re surrounded by lots of family members, here are my tips on staying focused:

Create some ground rules - ask your fam if between certain hours of day you can have designated quiet time so everyone in the house can focus

Find your space - even if it’s just a corner of a room, have a place you designate to do your work

Headphones - the perfect way to black out that noise!

Call a family meeting - try to get everyone to sit down and have a chance to say what they need to feel supported at the moment, to stop those inevitable arguments!

Be kind - this is a stressful time for everyone in the household and we’ll all have moments where it gets too much.
